It isn't a Hobby

I had a rejection the other day that took me back and I finally have wrapped my brain around why it bugged me.

I tried to start an Heritage Makers conversation with a friend and she shut me down with this "I don't have time to start another hobby." It really hit me in the gut. Heritage Makers is NOT a hobby. Here is the definition of hobby: "A hobby is a spare-time recreational pursuit"

Obviously I didn't do my job in explaining what I do and what Heritage Makers is about. Heritage Makers isn't about a hobby. It isn't about scrapbooking. It is about connections!

Connecting family members together. Connecting children to parents, parents to children. It is about FAMILY!

MY FAMILY IS NOT A HOBBY!

Heritage Makers is about family plain and simple! It is about writing your history, connecting past generations with today and tomorrow. It is about telling your children that you love them. This isn't my hobby, it is my FAMILY! My family is not part-time or recreational! It is in my full-time job.

Wanna join me in promoting family? I would love you to join my team. I would love for you to be a Heritage Maker. Not because I need people underneath me but because of moments like the one I got the other day.

In the mail came five books I had just finished. They are NOTHING special, just the journals from our family's day to day life. My oldest son (who is 17 going on 25) sat down and read them. I'm not sure what he took from them, but I know I poured my heart in it! I hope he read my heart. That is what YOU need--and that isn't a hobby!

That is making connections between hearts.
