Ok, I didn't like the changes I made and so I switched back and made the changes I wanted. The template I like didn't have a link section so I spent all morning figuring out how to do it and I like the way it turned out.
The links I added are to the wonderful pages I consider worth my time. My support group page, my personal homeschooling page, the National Homeschool Association that I'm a board member of, my husband's game store (please buy a wonderful game) and to my other blog.
I think I like these changes.
